![]() This is a pretty strong track and is lyrically sound and the vocals are admirable. Again you can here a rock organ in the background. Cold Blue In The Night, starts off with a bit of guitar static and then opens with a punky riff. This is a bit like Money as it sounds more like a general rock song then a punk song. Dave Parsons playing has odviously evolved over the previous years. The next song, Joey's On The Street, has a strong piano riff in the background, the guitar playing is also good. The bass also sounds a bit distinguished. This song is a bit more softer and the guitar playing here is great. ![]() (Not the most original of themes) Jimmy's vocals sound a bit weak here and it probably wasn't the strongest track to open the album. The song its self is how money is the cause to many problems. The album kicks off with Money, this is a reasonably punky song, the riff sounds a bit more rockabilly orientated though. Now, however, they were back with a strong album and a different sound. The band had split temporary because of this. But the skinhead presence had led to many of their shows being cancelled. However the band were anti-violent and anti-racist. Unfortunatly, for the band, some of their fans were violent and racist skinheads who caused many fights at their gigs. ![]() The band had a new drummer and by now had a huge number of fans and supporters. Hersham Boys was recorded after the bands temporary split during mid 1979. By mid 1979 they were back together and recording their third album. Mark Caine had been replaced by Ricky Goldstein on the drums and the band had split for a short while. Their first album Tell Us The Truth had been the sound of raw punk at it's best and That's Life showed how the band were aware of every day problems facing the population at that time. They had released two full length albums, a number of singles and had established themselves as one of Britain's most popular punk bands. In 2014, Pursey made it apparent on social media that he was reforming the 1977 lineup of the band.Sham 69 had come along way by 1979. “ Hurry Up England – The People’s Anthem ”, released on June 12 th 2006 gave the group their first top ten hit in 26 years. It was also used at the Labour Party Conference during UK Prime Minister Tony Blair’s arrival. Across this time, it saw the band have their tune “If the Kids Are United” used in a McDonald’ s advertising campaign. Over the next ten years, the group would undergo a similar routine of touring the last record, going into the studio tour, release it and to write a new one. Unfortunately, nearing the end of 1979, following the group’s fourth record, “ The Game”, the group disbanded for a decade.įront man Jimmy Pursey, released an album entitled “Volunteer” it featured the singles “Rip And Tear” and “Outside the Warehouse”, and made a comeback with a brand new line up. Despite mixed reviews, it became their highest charting album to date, reaching number 8 in the united kingdom. Sham 69 took a different direction moving gradually from punk rock, and releasing an album called “The Adventure of the Hersham Boys. Their following album s Life” which was released in 1978. Their debut album “Tell Us The Truth” which was launched on February 18th 1978, charted in the united kingdom reaching number 25. They earned the accolade of the only punk rock band to released five singles that had five singles make it to the Top 20 chart in the united kingdom. “If The Kids Are United”, was their largest single of the year, reaching number 9 in July 1978. ![]() Sham 69 are a punk rock band that came together in 1976 to make music.
