Now here are tracks that are closer to X1's style IMO I get a similar feeling to Morph Moth's & Bubble Crab's themes (btw BC's theme is IMHO among the best tracks in the game's soundtrack) X2 has some good tracks in it, but when I replayed through it, it seemed they dropped the metal/rock approach, although there are a few that kept that.įirst off, here's Wire Sponge's theme, it sounds more traditional video game to me. Heck it has the funkiest Password menu of the original SNES games too I'd need to replay X5 and 6 to see where I'd rank them, but for the most part X1's OST gives me Falcom JDK vibes and that's a positive in my book. I find that X 1 has the best soundtrack of the 2D series. It comes off pretty 'Speed Metal'-like with many upbeat tunes in it Storm Eagle's theme is a simple example to give if someone were asked to describe Megaman X's soundtrack Take Zero's theme for example, I dunno why but it comes off as if it is a somber tune by Ronnie James Dio to me The first game's music is very 'guitar' themed giving off a metal and rock n' roll vibe, this is even reflected in Maverick Hunter X's renditions of the OST. As I played through them, I came to notice how the approach to the music has changed between them: This is potent, active, electrified stuff, produced with a confident ability to jam a lot of movement & layers into a high-velocity structure without things feeling sloppy or rushed.Earlier this year I played through X 1, 2 and 3 via my PS2 collection that I owned years ago. Of the mixes posted thus far, this probably comes the closest to resembling a comprehensive upgrade to the instrumentation while maintaining the overall style not too much deviation, in that regard, but as Wes says the impressive part is the execution. It also manages to accomplish all of this without getting too repetitive, which is a feat considering how the song uses the same refrain a lot. "Disregarding that Counter Hunter Stage 1 from Mega Man X2 is one of my favorite Mega Man X series game sources, this is still one of my favorite songs from the album because it is energetic and does a great job at building up and unleashing that energy upon you. Dominic's actually got several hot tracks on the album, but Wes C. It works since the style is an over-the-top, almost uniquely Japanese sort of metal (J-Metal?) where orch hits are still allowed to run free and play with the other kids. "A powerful, energetic metal remix of the first X-Hunters stage theme from X2!"Īnd so it is truth in advertising! I love the fade-intro of a single repeating guitar riff that builds & trades off to synth at 0'15" with a divebomb transition, and then BAM - are those some orchestra-hit runs at 0'29" or WHAT? Intense we don't see the orchestra hit 'round these parts as much lately, but with this single ReMix they've resurfaced en masse. Following Washudoll's impressive debut comes another great newcomer track off of Maverick Rising, this time from Dominic Ninmark, who writes:
